The World Eternal Peace Conference Hall
In order to achieve the 9th Objective, under Article III of the constitution, which is “ to help search for ways and means to work together on the convention of an Eternal Peace in this world, “ the International Federation of Religions ( IFR), since 1977, sent out Religious Missions for Peace to promote religious and peace co-operation with world leaders and has at the same time planned to construct the world Eternal Peace Conference Hall.
In 1977, the I.F.R. had collected Holy Soils from countries around the world through co-operation of the foreign Embassies in Bangkok and Thai Embassies in Bangkok and Thai Embassies abroad. The Holy Soils were secured from each country’s three places of national importance :
1) the Parliament ; 2)the Government House; and 3) the most renowned and venerated temple, church, mosque, or the official residence of the Head of State. They were requested from countries with good diplomatic relations with Thailand, regardless of whatever their political ideology, system of government, or faith of religious belief.
The foundation Stone and the Holy Soils Laying Ceremony was performed on 19th October 1978. More than twenty thousand people watched the sacred ceremony in which religious leaders of Buddhism, Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, Sikhism, and Bahai, blessed the Foundation Stone and Ambassadors and Diplomatic Representatives placed the Holy Soils of their countries in the foundation stone base. The whole ceremony was chaired by H.E. Gen. Serm Na Nakorn, Supreme Commander of the Supreme Command Headquarters of the Royal Thai Armed Forces.
In his congratulating speech, His Holiness Sri Satguru Jagjit Singh Ji Maharaj, Supreme Spiritual Head of Namdhari Sikhs, said, “….. the work for peace is not the duty of any particular government or organization. All countries must join hands to do this noble work. Peace is most important to all mankind….. I personally have strong faith that H.E. Peace Envoy Suchart Kosolkitiwong was blessed by wish of God to do this noble work on peace…”
One year after the grand foundation stone laying ceremony, the Executive Committee of the I.F.R. set up the architect staff to work out the detailed plan and the model of the World Eternal Peace Conference Hall. On January 19, 1980, the ceremony of the construction was held at the Religious Land Hooppha Sawan and was presided over by World Peace Envoy, Dr. Suchart kosolkitiwong, President of I.F.R.
